to update this kitchen in a Queen Anne Victorian house we needed to approach it in a way that honored the original architecture and style, but still filled all the needs of a modern family. trimming out all the openings to match the rest of the house was very important to keeping the style aligned. we added a smoothie and coffee bar and laundry nook. There is a hidden pantry behind a wall of period appropriate wallpaper. The legs of the island we re designed to reflect the balusters in the front hall. The terra cotta tile on the floor is reminiscent of the main fireplace hearth, but in a more modern shape and layout.
